KOVE Rally 450
A budget KTM 450 Rally?
The Kove 450 Rally looks like a real Dakar Rally bike, and comes in at a remarkable base price of just $8,999. The base model is available in standard height and low height versions (38 and 36 inch seat heights respectively). The base model is also equipped with 51hps, 29.5 ft/lbs, ABS and a TFT screen dash. Armed with 8 gallons of fuel this bike can go 300 miles between stops. A quick review of the spec sheet suggests this could be the basis of a competent off road focused Light Weight ADV or Rally machine.
When can we see it close up?
The First 70 units will be imported as “Competition off road models” and are slated to be in stock by June. But, according to Kove “...due to supply chain issues it could take longer”. Which means ADV riders looking to buy a road legal version may be waiting until the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2023. Although in many of the photos Kove has shared a road legal version of the bike figures prominently, so the delays are no doubt a result of process hurdles, the timing of which is always a little hard to predict.
Will this bike be well received?
The dealer network is going to be an issue for many prospective buyers, not to mention the implications of supporting a not too friendly competing economy. But as far at the bike itself, all indications are that this is at least be a contender, if not a disrupter in the ultra light adventure motorcycle segment. Most recently three of these machines, or a version there of, started and successfully completed the 5000 miles of the Dakar Rally! …on the same engine they started with no less.
