Renazco Racing Seat vs Seat Concepts DIY Kit

After upgrading my 2020 Husqvarna 701 enduro LR’s Stock Seat to a Seat Concepts XL Comfort, I put a few thousand miles on it…and then just for kicks I upgraded the seat again. This time to a Blue Suede Renazco Racing Seat with Flo Yellow stiching…was it worth it?

Adventure bike soft foam seat cover

A thin layer of extra soft foam is imbedded in the top of the seat cover, while the sides are more firm with a high quality carbon fiber look.

Adventure bike suede seat cover

Suede has a softer feel than almost anyother seat covering, which adds to the superior comfort of this seat.

2020 Husqvarna 701 enduro LR

As expected Husqvarna, and by association KTM, live up to their reputation by delivering the 701 with an extremely uncomfortable stock seat. It kind of makes me wonder if they have been talking to my first off-road riding coach, who used to say “I’m going to take the seat off the bike so you don’t sit down so much”…I guess that’s why I don’t hate this seat quite as much as most people, but there is no denying that this is not a comfortable place to spend a few hundred miles per day.

Seat Concepts XL Comfort on Husqvarna

This Seat Concepts XL Comfort arrived as a seat cover and foam DIY kit. See my you tube channel for a step by step walk through of recovering the seat. Round trip this kit took just a few days to arrive and just a couple days to install. It was way more comfortable than stock, and made my three hundred mile days on the MABDR very enjoyable.

Unquestionably, this is a great looking seat, but at more than twice the price and months longer turnaround time than the Seat Concepts kit…you’ll need to chose when to send it to Renazco very carefully if you plan to ride your bike this season. Also it’s worth considering whether all that time and money is worth the slightly softer result.

Adventure Bike Seat Ratings

The Final Word:

Renazco Racing Seat: This seat delivers on the promise of better than average comfort. And while I ordered the standard seat height, it is not as tapered as the Seat Concepts seat at the tank so it feels like it adds an inch to seat height. Turn around time was definitely a problem, since this seat took more than ten weeks after my scheduled start date, which in itself took two months to book out.

Seat Concepts XL Comfort: This seat delivers great value and although it is wider than stock it tapers enough near the tank to only feel like it has added half an inch to the seat height. Ordering the kit is fast by today’s standards, and if you have a few basic tools and some spray on adhesive you can be done in a few days. For more popular models of motorcycle you can get the complete seat from Seat Concepts which would be more expensive and slower to get, but would obviously be a lot less work. I can’t speak to that option at this point, but can say I was pleased with the Kit that I installed on my Husky.
